What Is Quartz Clean & Shine?

Stone Care International Quartz Clean & Shine is a pH-balanced daily cleaner made specifically for engineered quartz. It lifts grease and residue without attacking the polymer resin that holds a quartz slab together.

That resin is the reason a separate product exists. Quartz is roughly 93% crushed natural stone bound with about 7% resin, and the binder is the vulnerable part. It is not the mineral that harsh cleaners damage; it is the glue.

Because quartz resists staining, cleaning is genuinely the whole maintenance routine. There is no sealing, no waxing and no annual schedule. Get the cleaner right and there is nothing else to do.

What Damages a Quartz Counter?

Four things, and three of them are under your sink.

High-pH cleaners

Oven cleaner, bleach and heavy-duty degreasers break down the resin binder over time. The damage is gradual rather than immediate, which is why people do not connect the dull patch to the spray they have been using for a year.

Dish soap, used long-term

Soap does not damage quartz, but it leaves a film that builds up and dulls the polish. This is the most common cause of a quartz counter that has stopped looking new, and it is entirely reversible with a proper cleaner.

Abrasives

Scouring pads, steel wool and powder cleansers scuff the polished surface permanently. A plastic scraper lifts anything dried on without leaving a mark.

Wax and polish meant for stone

Wax cannot soak into a quartz surface, so it sits on top, builds up and yellows. Never use Cera Fluida or a granite polish on quartz, however good they are on natural stone.

How Do You Clean a Quartz Counter?

Three habits, and the counter looks after itself.

Clean as You Go

Spills sit on the surface rather than soaking in, so a soft cloth clears nearly everything. There is no urgency about staining, only about how the counter looks between wipes.

Spray and Wipe Daily

A light spray and a microfiber cloth is the whole routine. Work in sections on a long run so the cleaner does not dry before you wipe it, which is what leaves streaks on a dark slab.

Use a Plastic Scraper for Dried Residue

Candle wax, dried food and adhesive lift with a plastic scraper and a little cleaner. Reach for the scraper rather than a scouring pad, since the pad is what causes permanent damage.

Can You Use a Granite Cleaner on Quartz?

No. They are solving different problems.

No. A granite cleaner is formulated for a porous mineral surface, and many of them include a polish or a light wax component intended to enrich natural stone. On quartz that residue has nowhere to go and builds up on the surface.

The reverse is also true. This cleaner is fine on granite in the sense that it will not harm it, but it is not doing the job a granite product does, and it will not help a sealed natural stone the way a dedicated one will.

The distinction matters because the two bottles sit next to each other on the shelf at ₱1,700 and look almost identical. Read which one you are holding.

If you have both materials in one kitchen, which is common when an island is quartz and a perimeter is granite, buy both. It is the simplest way to avoid using the wrong one on the wrong surface for years.

Does Quartz Ever Need Sealing?

No. Not once, not ever.

No. Sealing works by filling the pore structure of a quarried stone so liquid cannot travel into it. Engineered quartz is manufactured, so a sealer has nothing to do and simply dries on the surface as a film.

This comes up constantly, usually because a customer has been told by a contractor that all stone counters need sealing. It is true of most natural stone and false of every quartz we sell.

Anyone selling you sealer for a quartz counter without asking what the counter is made of has not checked. If you are unsure what you have, the water test settles it: leave a few drops of water on an inconspicuous spot for 15 minutes, and quartz will not darken underneath.

The same applies to wax and polish. Quartz needs a cleaner, and that is the complete list.

What This Cleaner Will Not Fix

Three kinds of damage that no bottle reverses.

Heat Scorch

A pan straight off the burner burns the resin, and the mark cannot be cleaned or polished out. This is the one genuine weakness of quartz and the reason trivets are not optional.

UV Yellowing

Prolonged direct sunlight shifts quartz towards yellow permanently, which is why we do not recommend it outdoors. Fit blinds where a counter catches strong afternoon sun.

Scouring Scratches

Abrasive pads dull the polish, and no cleaner brings that back. Prevention is the only remedy, so keep the scouring pad away from the counter entirely.

Can I use a granite cleaner on my quartz counter?

Can I use it on granite or marble?

It will not harm them, but it is not doing the job a natural stone product does. If you have both materials in one kitchen, buy both bottles rather than compromising on one.
