What Is Paradiso Light Granite?

Cream and gray, flowing in long diagonal sweeps.

Paradiso Light is a Chinese granite in pale cream and soft peach, crossed by long gray and charcoal bands that flow diagonally across the slab. The movement is the whole character of the stone. Paradiso Light is also called China Juparana.

It is not a lighter version of Paradiso Dark, and the name misleads a lot of buyers. That stone is Indian, deep red-brown and finely mottled. This one is Chinese, pale and strongly banded. They share a trade name and nothing else.

The banding is directional, which has a practical consequence covered in the cost section below. It is the single most important thing to settle before anyone starts cutting.

At ₱4,300 per square meter it is among the more affordable granites we carry, and unlike engineered quartz it will take a hot pan straight off the burner without scorching.

How Do You Clean Paradiso Light Granite?

Three habits, and a pale granite keeps its clarity.

Blot Spills and Drips Promptly

This matters more here than on a dark stone. A pale porous granite shows an oil mark plainly, so wipe cooking oil, butter and salad dressing as soon as they land rather than at the end of the session.

Use Only Granite Cleaner

Bleach and acidic bathroom sprays strip the sealer and shorten the interval before you have to redo it. A pH-neutral stone cleaner lifts grease without touching the seal underneath.

Never Scour It

Steel wool, scouring pads and abrasive powders scuff the polish permanently. A plastic scraper lifts anything dried on without leaving a mark.

How Do You Care for Paradiso Light Granite?

One seal, the occasional check, and one thing never to do.

Seal It on Installation

The counter should be sealed once it is in and the dust has settled. We do this as part of installation, and on a pale granite it is the step that decides whether the first oil spill becomes permanent.

Reseal as Needed

Put a few drops of water on an inconspicuous part of the counter and leave them 15 minutes. Check once or twice a year, and any time you notice the stone darkening where liquid has been sitting. If it darkens, reseal—a wipe-on, wipe-off job that takes an evening.

Never Sit or Stand on It

Granite is hard but not flexible, and an unsupported overhang can crack under body weight. Pull up a step stool rather than climbing onto the counter.

Is Paradiso Light Granite Good for Kitchen Countertops?

Yes, provided you keep the sealer honest.

Yes. Granite is a silicate stone, so acid does not etch it. Lemon juice, vinegar and wine leave the polish intact where they would dull a marble within seconds.

Heat is where it pulls clearly ahead of engineered quartz. A pan lifted straight off the burner will not scorch it, because there is no resin binder to burn. Trivets remain good practice against thermal shock, but a moment of carelessness will not ruin the counter.

Be straight about the combination you are choosing. Pale and porous is the least forgiving pairing in natural stone, because an oil mark on cream shows in a way it never would on Paradiso Dark. Sealed properly it is perfectly practical. Neglected, it is the stone most likely to disappoint.

The flowing banding earns its keep in return. It gives a pale counter movement and depth that a plain white surface cannot offer, and it disguises crumbs better than you would expect.

Does Paradiso Light Granite Need Sealing?

Yes, and on this one it really matters.

Yes. Paradiso Light is porous enough that oil and wine can seep into the stone, and on a cream ground the resulting patch is obvious. Sealed, it repels both and behaves like any other easy kitchen surface.

Sealing varies stone by stone and cannot be assumed from color. Absolute Black, Black Galaxy and Tan Brown need no sealer at all. Every pale granite we carry does, and this one is no exception.

In practice that means one application at installation and a water test once or twice a year afterwards. Anyone who tells you a granite never needs sealing without asking which granite is guessing.

Paradiso Dark shares the name and nothing else

Paradiso Dark is Indian rather than Chinese, deep red-brown rather than cream, and finely mottled rather than banded. If you arrived here expecting a matched pair, look at both slabs before choosing.

River White is quieter and cooler

River White is a white ground with fine gray veining and burgundy flecks. Far less movement, cooler in tone, and it needs sealing too.

Viscon White is the crisper option

Viscon White runs sharper gray veining on white. Choose it for a contemporary kitchen where Paradiso Light would feel too soft and flowing.

What Colors Go With Paradiso Light Granite?

This stone sits between warm and cool, cream in the ground and gray in the banding, which makes it unusually easy to build a scheme around.

Cream and warm white cabinetry give the most natural result, letting the flow of the banding carry the interest without anything else competing.

Timber is the obvious partner. Oak and light walnut pick up the peach undertone, and the gray bands keep the combination from tipping into something overly yellow.

Gray cabinetry works here where it fails against the warmer granites, because the banding gives it something to answer. For hardware, nickel and chrome follow the gray, brass follows the cream. Pick one and stay with it.

No, and this is a common mix-up. Paradiso Light is Chinese, cream and gray, strongly banded. Paradiso Dark is Indian, deep red-brown and finely mottled. They share a trade name and nothing else, so choose on the slab rather than the name.

Which way should the banding run?
Along the length of the counter is the usual choice and reads more natural, but running it across is a legitimate look. Decide before fabrication, because the slab is cut to that orientation and it cannot be changed afterwards.

Does Paradiso Light granite need sealing?
Yes, and it matters more here than on a dark stone. An oil mark on a cream ground is obvious. Seal it on installation, then test once or twice a year with a few drops of water on an inconspicuous spot and reseal only when the stone darkens underneath.

Can you put a hot pan on Paradiso Light granite?
Yes. There is no resin binder to scorch, so a pan straight off the burner will not burn or discolor the surface. A trivet is still worth using, because any stone can crack if the temperature change is sudden and extreme. Trivets are still sensible to avoid thermal shock on a cold slab, but this is the material’s real advantage over engineered quartz.

Does it stain easily?
Unsealed on a pale ground, yes. Cooking oil is the usual culprit and it leaves a darker patch that can take weeks to lift with a poultice. Sealed and maintained, it behaves like any other easy kitchen surface.

Does it etch like marble?
No. Granite is silicate-based rather than calcium carbonate, so acid does not eat into the polish. Lemon juice, vinegar and wine leave the surface intact where they would dull a marble almost immediately.

Can Paradiso Light granite be used outdoors?
Yes. Unlike engineered quartz, granite holds its color under Philippine sun, so it suits lanai counters, outdoor kitchens and pool-side surfaces. Test more often outdoors, because weather wears a seal down faster and the stone will want resealing sooner than it would inside.
