What Is Paradiso Dark Granite?

Deep red-brown, densely grained with black.

Paradiso Dark is an Indian granite in a deep red-brown, packed with dark brown and black mineral grain and lit here and there by pale gray feldspar. Faint lighter threads run through some slabs without ever becoming veins.

At a distance it reads as a warm dark counter with no obvious pattern. Up close the grain resolves into hundreds of crystals, giving it a depth no manufactured surface matches.

The mottle has no direction to it. That makes it one of the easier natural stones to fabricate, because slabs can be laid whichever way suits the room, which gives us more freedom when we match the seam.

At ₱4,500 per square meter it is one of the more affordable dark granites we carry, and unlike engineered quartz it will take a hot pan straight off the burner without scorching.

How Do You Clean Paradiso Dark Granite?

Three habits, and a sealed granite looks after itself.

Blot Spills and Drips Promptly

Granite is a natural stone with real porosity, so cooking oil and red wine are the two things worth catching quickly. On a sealed counter a wipe is enough, but do not leave them standing overnight.

Use Only Granite Cleaner

Bleach and acidic bathroom sprays strip the sealer and shorten the interval before you have to redo it. A pH-neutral stone cleaner lifts grease without touching the seal underneath.

Never Scour It

Steel wool, scouring pads and abrasive powders scuff the polish permanently. A plastic scraper lifts anything dried on without leaving a mark.

How Do You Care for Paradiso Dark Granite?

One seal, the occasional check, and one thing never to do.

Seal It on Installation

The counter should be sealed once it is in and the dust has settled. We do this as part of installation, and it is the single step that determines how the stone behaves for the next few years.

Reseal as Needed

Put a few drops of water on an inconspicuous part of the counter and leave them 15 minutes. Check once or twice a year, and any time you notice the stone darkening where liquid has been sitting. If it darkens, reseal—a wipe-on, wipe-off job that takes an evening.

Never Sit or Stand on It

Granite is hard but not flexible, and an unsupported overhang can crack under body weight. Pull up a step stool rather than climbing onto the counter.

Is Paradiso Dark Granite Good for Kitchen Countertops?

Yes, and it handles heat in a way quartz cannot.

Yes. Granite is a silicate stone, so acid does not etch it. Lemon juice, vinegar and wine leave the polish intact where they would dull a marble within seconds.

Heat is where it pulls clearly ahead of engineered quartz. A pan lifted straight off the burner will not scorch it, because there is no resin binder to burn. Trivets are still good practice for thermal shock, but a moment of carelessness will not ruin the counter.

The dense red-brown grain is quietly practical too. Crumbs, water marks and cooking evidence all break up against it, so this is a forgiving surface in a kitchen that gets used properly every day.

The one real obligation is sealing, covered below. Skip it and the stone will darken where oil sits. Keep on top of it and Paradiso Dark will outlast the kitchen around it.

Does Paradiso Dark Granite Need Sealing?

Yes. Do not inherit the answer from another granite.

Yes. Paradiso Dark has enough porosity that oil and wine can seep into the stone and leave a dark patch. Sealed, it repels both and behaves like any other easy kitchen surface.

This is worth stating plainly because sealing varies by stone and cannot be assumed. Absolute Black, Black Galaxy and Tan Brown are all dense enough to need no sealer at all. Paradiso Dark is not, despite being a dark stone.

In practice this means one application at installation and a water test once or twice a year afterwards. That is the whole commitment, and it is the price of a natural stone that takes a hot pan without flinching.

Paradiso Dark vs Our Other Warm Granites

Four brown and red stones, and they behave differently.

Paradiso Dark is the deep red-brown

Dense dark grain with red warmth through it, at ₱4,500 per sqm. Non-directional, so it is simple to fabricate, and it needs sealing.

Paradiso Light shares the name and nothing else

Paradiso Light is not a paler version of this stone. It is cream and gray with strong flowing banding, and that pattern is directional, so the run has to be agreed before fabrication. Treat them as two different stones.

Tan Brown needs no sealing at all

Tan Brown is darker and cooler, with black and burgundy grain. It is dense enough to skip the sealer entirely, which makes it the lower-maintenance choice in this color family.

Baltic Brown is the boldest grain

Baltic Brown from Finland carries large rounded brown clusters rather than a fine mottle. Much more visible pattern, and it needs sealing like this one.

What Colors Go With Paradiso Dark Granite?

A warm dark counter that wants warm company.

The red in this stone is the thing to plan around. It is not a neutral brown, and a scheme that ignores the warmth will look as though the counter arrived from a different project.

Timber is the natural partner. Oak, teak and narra all share the undertone, which is why this stone suits the traditional Filipino kitchen so well.

Cream and warm white cabinetry lift it without fighting it. Deep colors work too, but keep them warm: burgundy and olive sit comfortably where navy tends to clash with the red.

Cool grays are the trap. Gray cabinetry against a red-brown counter usually reads as a mistake rather than a contrast. If the kitchen is gray, Tan Brown is the cooler stone in the same family. For hardware, brass and antique bronze belong here, while chrome reads cold.

Does Paradiso Dark granite need sealing?

Is Paradiso Light just a lighter version of this?

No, and this catches people out. Paradiso Light is cream and gray with strong flowing banding, while Paradiso Dark is a red-brown mottle with no direction. They share a trade name rather than a look, so choose between them on the slab, not the name.

Can you put a hot pan on Paradiso Dark granite?

Yes. There is no resin binder to scorch, so a pan straight off the burner will not burn or discolor the surface. A trivet is still worth using, because any stone can crack if the temperature change is sudden and extreme. Trivets are still sensible to avoid thermal shock on a cold slab, but this is the material’s real advantage over engineered quartz.

Does Paradiso Dark granite stain?

Unsealed, yes. Cooking oil is the usual culprit and it leaves a darker patch that can take weeks to lift with a poultice. Sealed and maintained, it behaves like any other easy kitchen surface.

Does it etch like marble?

No. Granite is silicate-based rather than calcium carbonate, so acid does not eat into the polish. Lemon juice, vinegar and wine leave the surface intact where they would dull a marble almost immediately.

Does the pattern need aligning across a seam?

No. The mottle is evenly distributed and has no direction, so slabs can be laid whichever way suits the room. Paradiso Light is the opposite, and does need its run agreed before fabrication.

Can Paradiso Dark granite be used outdoors?

Yes. Unlike engineered quartz, granite holds its color under Philippine sun, so it suits lanai counters, outdoor kitchens and pool-side surfaces. The seal wears faster outdoors under sun and rain, so test it more often and reseal once the stone starts drinking.
