Why Choose Onyx?

Translucent When BacklitLight it from behind and the whole panel glows. Nothing else in our product lineup does this.
One of a Kind BandingEvery slab carries its own banding, so the panel in your space is unlike any other.
Made for Feature SurfacesBar fronts, reception desks, backsplashes, and backlit panels are where onyx belongs.
Rare and DistinctiveEvery design carries a translucent depth that no engineered surface reproduces.

Onyx is more fragile than granite or marble and susceptible to etching, scratching, and staining, so we do not recommend it for kitchen counters or any high-traffic surface. For a working countertop, granite or engineered quartz is the right call.

How Do You Care for
Onyx Surfaces?

Onyx is the most delicate stone we carry. These three habits keep it looking the way it arrived.

1

Use Stone Cleaner Only

Never soap and water. Onyx is highly porous, and residue dulls the surface quickly. A specially-formulated stone cleaner is the only thing that should touch it.

2

Dry It Immediately

Blot spills rather than wiping, and dry the surface after cleaning. Onyx should never have moisture sitting on it.

3

Remember to Seal as Needed

As often as every six months, and always when the water test fails. Tenax Hydrex on walls and cladding, Tenax Proseal on any counter surface.

We stock stone sealers and specially-formulated cleaners at every branch, so pick one up when you collect your slab.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is onyx?

Onyx is a translucent natural stone cut into slabs for feature walls, bar fronts, reception desks, and backlit panels. Put a light behind it and the whole surface glows from within.

That translucency is the whole point. Lit from the front, onyx reads as a richly banded stone. Lit from behind, the banding turns into something closer to stained glass, and no engineered surface reproduces the effect.

It is a stone to be looked at rather than worked on. We supply it as 18 mm polished slabs in honey, mint, and multicolor for architectural and decorative work.

How much does onyx cost in the Philippines?

An onyx slab is quoted per project, and it is the most expensive material we carry. Fabrication and installation each start at ₱500 per linear meter.

Onyx is quarried in small volumes and needs careful handling through fabrication and installation, so the onyx slab rate reflects both the scarcity and the extra work involved.

Send us the detailed plan for your project, and we will prepare a proper quote within 24 hours.

Can onyx be backlit?

Yes, and it is the main reason people choose it. An onyx slab is translucent, so an LED panel behind the slab lights the whole surface from within and reveals the banding.

Backlit onyx works on bar fronts, reception desks, feature walls, and headboards. The slab thickness and the light spacing both matter, so tell us the panel size and we will advise on the build-up.

Is onyx suitable for a kitchen countertop?

We do not recommend it. Onyx is more fragile than granite and marble, and it etches, scratches, and stains more readily than either.

It belongs on surfaces that are looked at rather than worked on. For a kitchen counter, granite or engineered quartz will serve you far better and cost a fraction as much.

Does onyx need to be sealed?

Yes, as often as every six months. Onyx is highly porous, more so than marble, so a penetrating sealer is not optional.

Use Tenax Proseal on counter surfaces for oil and water protection, and Tenax Hydrex on walls and cladding.

How do you clean an onyx surface?

Use a specially-formulated stone cleaner and nothing else. Never soap and water, which leaves residue that dulls onyx faster than it does other stones.

Blot spills rather than wiping, and dry the surface afterward. Standing moisture is the main thing that damages onyx.

Is onyx available in stock or by indent order?

All onyx is indent order. The three designs above and anything beyond them are brought in from our quarry partners, with a minimum order of 100 sqm.

Tell us what you are looking for and we’ll confirm its availability and lead time.

What thickness does onyx come in?

Our onyx slabs are 18 mm thick with a polished finish, supplied with natural unpolished edges.

How long does onyx installation take?

Fabrication and installation take 3-5 working days once the slab reaches our workshop. Onyx is indent order, so we import every slab against the job it is cut for—that import time comes first. Your branch can tell you the current lead time for the design you want.

Onyx needs more careful handling than granite or marble through fabrication and transport, so we build a little more time into the schedule for it.

Scheduling is on a “first come, first served” basis. Talk to your nearest branch before you commit, since no two onyx slabs are identical and yours is brought in to order.

Every countertop we install includes one free buffing within its 1-year workmanship warranty.
