Marble tiles are priced per piece and depend on the size and the design, so they are quoted separately from slabs. Common sizes, such as 60 cm x 60 cm and 60 cm x 120 cm, cost far less than a full slab for the same coverage.

Marble tiles suit floors and wall cladding. For a marble countertop, we recommend a slab, because tile joints collect grime along a working surface.

It depends on how you use the kitchen. Marble is heat resistant and stays naturally cool, which is why bakers prefer it, but it is softer and more porous than granite, so it marks and etches more easily.

The thing most people are not told: those marks are repairable. Etches buff out with polishing powder, stains lift with a poultice, and chips fill and polish back, because the color runs through the full depth of the stone.

If you want a low-maintenance surface, engineered quartz is the easier choice. If you want a surface people notice and you do not mind a little upkeep, marble is worth it.

Marble is porous, so it can stain, and it reacts to acids, so it can etch. These are two different problems: staining is discoloration from an absorbed liquid, etching is dulled polish from acid contact.

Sealing slows staining considerably, but it does not prevent etching. That comes down to what touches the surface, so keep lemon, vinegar, and household cleaners away from it.

Both are fixable, which is the part that matters.

Yes, without exception, and as often as every six months on a kitchen counter. A marble countertop is porous, so it benefits from a penetrating sealer.

To check whether yours is due, use the water blot test on an inconspicuous area: leave a few drops of water for 15 minutes, and if the stone darkens, then it’s time to reseal.

Wipe your marble countertop with a cleaner made specifically for marble, and blot spills rather than wiping them.

Skip vinegar, lemon, and any acidic cleaner, because acids are what etch marble. Bleach and abrasives do not etch, but they dull the polish and break down the sealer, and soap and water leaves residue that flattens the shine over time.

Draw a marble countertop stain out with a poultice: mix baking soda with a little water into a thick paste, spread it over the mark, cover it with plastic wrap, and leave it overnight. Wipe it away and repeat if the stain has faded but not gone.

Reseal the area afterward, because a poultice lifts the sealer along with the stain.

Marble is supplied in three formats, all 18 mm thick with a polished finish: tiles at roughly 0.60 m x 0.60 m, cutter slabs at roughly 0.60 m x 2.40 m, and gangsaw slabs from about 1.50 m x 2.50 m upward.

Having three formats to choose from means you can buy close to the sizes on your cutting list, which is how you keep both wastage and cost down.

3-5 working days once your slab is with us. Marble is indent order, so nothing sits in the yard—we import the slab against your specific job, and that lead time comes before fabrication. Ask your branch what to expect for the design you have chosen.

We take accurate measurements on-site and fabricate at our workshop rather than in your home, so dust and noise at your location stay minimal.

Scheduling is on a “first come, first served” basis, so your date depends on the workload at your nearest Stone Depot branch. Talk to your nearest branch before you commit, since no two marble slabs are identical and yours is brought in to order.

Every countertop we install includes one free buffing within its 1-year workmanship warranty.
