Granite tiles are priced per piece and depend on the size and the color, so they are quoted separately from slabs. Common sizes, such as 60 cm x 60 cm and 60 cm x 120 cm, cost far less than a full slab for the same coverage.

Granite tiles suit floors and wall cladding. For a granite countertop, we recommend a slab, because tile joints collect grime along a working surface.

Wipe it with a cleaner made specifically for stone after each use. It takes seconds and keeps your counter looking the way it did on day one.

Soap and water feels harmless, but the residue builds up and dulls the polish over time. Skip vinegar, bleach, and any acidic or abrasive cleaner, since these strip the sealer and dull the polish.

Use a stone-safe disinfectant, or wipe the surface with 70% isopropyl alcohol and let it sit for a few minutes before wiping it dry.

Avoid bleach and undiluted household disinfectants. They kill germs, but they also break down the sealer, and an unsealed granite absorbs stains far more readily.

If you cook a lot, choose granite. It handles heat, so a pan straight off the burner will not scorch it.

If you would rather not think about maintenance, choose quartz. It resists stains, never needs sealing, and maintains a uniform color across the whole counter, though you will want trivets since the resin is heat-sensitive.

Planning an outdoor counter? Granite is the one that lasts, because quartz can yellow under UV. Granite is also the more affordable of the two, starting at ₱2,600 per sqm against ₱5,700 for quartz.

It depends on the stone, not its color. Absolute Black, Black Galaxy, Tan Brown and Marigold need no sealing; Black Impala, Paradiso Dark and Gray Honda do, despite being dark.

To check whether yours is due, use the water blot test on an inconspicuous area: leave a few drops of water for 15 minutes, and if the stone darkens, then it’s time to reseal.

Sealing is a wipe-on, wipe-off job you can do yourself with either Tenax Hydrex or Tenax Proseal, and your nearest Stone Depot branch can walk you through it.

We carry granite countertop material in three formats, all 18 mm thick with a polished finish: tiles at roughly 0.60 m x 0.60 m, cutter slabs at roughly 0.60 m x 2.40 m, and gangsaw slabs from about 1.50 m x 2.50 m upward.

Most home improvement stores stock the cutter size only. Having three formats to choose from means you can buy close to the sizes on your cutting list, which is how you keep both wastage and cost down.

Draw the stain out with a poultice: mix baking soda with a little water into a thick paste, spread it over the mark, cover it with plastic wrap, and leave it overnight. Wipe it away and repeat if the stain has faded but not gone.

Reseal the area afterward, because a poultice lifts the sealer along with the stain.

In most cases the polish is not gone, it is buried under soap residue. Strip the buildup with a stone cleaner first, and the shine usually comes back on its own.

If it still looks dull, the surface likely needs resealing, or in older counters, professional restoration by a specialist. Every countertop we install includes one free buffing within its 1-year workmanship warranty.

Most kitchens are finished in 3-5 working days, depending on the size and specifications of the project.
